I have just read the most frightening comment in an AP wire story on Cheney's mishap with his shotgun last weekend:
"My family and I are deply sorry for everything Vice President and his family have had to deal with."
Can you believe that Harry Whittington said this? If had been in Whittington's situation, & let's say my best friend (assuming that the two men were this close) had accidently shot me, the only statement I would make to defend him would be along the following lines: "This is smiply another example that firearms are dangerous, & we should always be careful with them. Nevertheless, I have forgiven Cheney for this accident, & we have moved on. I suggest that everyone else do so too."
