Two months ago here in Portland, Oregon demonstrators calling themselves “Occupy ICE” — I’m unclear if they have any connection with the better known “Occupy Wall Street” movement — closed down the local ICE headquarters for a week. While the demonstration didn’t end as well as it could have, it was noteworthy because Mayor Ted Wheeler refused to let the Portland Police to get involved — avoiding a no-win situation that would have involved violence.
Last night the head of Occupy White House — which I’m sure has nothing to do with the “Occupy Wall Street” movement — attacked Mayor Wheeler in one of his rambling speeches:
Last month the mayor of Portland, Oregon shamefully ordered local police to stand down, leaving federal law enforcement officers to face an angry mob of violent people. Any politician who puts criminal aliens before American citizens should find a new line of work, because it's not going to work. It's not going to work
Today Mayor Wheeler responded to this with a couple of tweets:
I’d recommend someone send the head of Occupy White House a copy of How to Make Friends and Influence People, but I have on good authority that person doesn’t read.
