I heard this an hour ago on the tv news: allegedly Rex Tillerson will either quite or be fired as Secretary of State and be replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Talking Points Memo has one version of the story, while the Independent in the UK reports that person’s denial that a shake-up is in the works. “He's here. Rex is here” that person has told journalists, but the Independent adds quite perceptively, “given that the Trump White House has on several occasions announced personnel changes with no forewarning, there is still the possibility that Mr Tillerson could be permanently gone from State Department headquarters by the end of the day.”
I don’t know if it's a good thing that Tillerson might be gone before we know it. I don’t know if Pompeo is an improvement over a retired petroleum CEO & friend of Putin. That person is capable of replacing anyone in his administration with someone even worse for America; everything he touches turns to shit. But I'm posting this diary in hopes that someone in the comments will help explain this breaking development.
